The Pakistani rupee continues to strengthen against the US dollar.

Karachi: The downtrend in the Pakistani rupee continued on Friday. As the local currency lost Re0.52 against the US dollar in the interbank market, ARY News reports, citing SBP.

Local currency closed at 229.65 rupees per dollar. According to Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The dollar was sold between Rs235 and 240 on the open market, forex traders said.

Weekly inflation in Pakistan, as measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), rose 0.98% during the week ended Jan. 19, 2023, according to data published by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

According to data released by PBS, the SPI for the week under review was 220.54 points, compared to 219.56 the previous week.

Of the 51 items examined, the average price of 23 items increased, 11 items decreased, while 17 items remained unchanged during the week.
