New Year’s Eve shooting in Alabama leaves one dead, nine wounded

A 24-year-old man was killed and nine others injured in a shooting in Mobile, Alabama, Saturday night. According to the local police, It’s just a few blocks from where people gather to celebrate the city’s New Year’s Eve.

Officers responded to reports of the shooting on Dauphin Street’s 200 block at about 11:14 p.m. CT, the Mobile Police Department said in a news release.

When officers arrived, they found an “unidentified object” shooting a 24-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nine other victims, ranging in age from 17 to 57, also suffered gunshot wounds. and was taken to a local hospital. “Injuries ranged from mild to severe,” according to the release.

No arrests have been made and it is unclear what motivated the shooting. This happened because the crowd was in the downtown area. MoonPie via mobile event.
