Yum Brands said late Wednesday that the ransomware attack affected some of the company’s information technology systems. This led to the closure of nearly 300 UK restaurants for a day.
The company added that all stores are now operational. and has begun investigating the response protocol of such incidents. It has also stepped up its investigation while notifying federal law enforcement.
Yum, which owns Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chains, did not specify which restaurants were affected by the attacks.
KFC’s parents said there was no evidence the customer database was stolen. Even if the data comes from the company’s network.
The company said the incident was not expected to have a negative impact on its business, operations or financial results.
