According to accounts of both Ukrainian and Russian supporters, The strike took place after midnight on Sunday. which is new year at a vocational school housing Russian conscripts in the city of Makiivka in the Donetsk region.
The attack led to criticism of the Russian army from pro-Russian military bloggers. which claimed that the garrison lacked protection and was reportedly surrounded near a large ammunition depot. which is said to have exploded when a Ukrainian HIMARS rocket hit the school.
The Ukrainian army claimed that about 400 Russian soldiers were killed and 300 were wounded, without being directly aware of their role. CNN could not confirm the numbers or weapons used in the strikes. Some pro-Russian military bloggers estimate the number of dead and wounded could be in the hundreds.
The Russian Defense Ministry on Monday acknowledged the attack and claimed “63 Russian soldiers” were killed.
Video reports from the scene of the attack circulated widely on Telegram. Including in Ukrainian military channels.It shows a pile of smoking rubble on which hardly any part of the building appears to be standing.

Daniil Bezsonov, a former official in the Russian-backed Donetsk government said in telegram “Obviously, the senior commander is still unaware of the capabilities of this weapon.”
Igor Girkin, Russian propagandist who blogs about telegraph wars claimed The building was almost completely destroyed by the second explosion of ammunition stores.
Girkin has long condemned Russian generals. Girkin was previously Defense Minister of the self-proclaimed Russian-backed Donetsk People’s Republic. And was found guilty by a court of mass murder in the Netherlands. because of his involvement in the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine in 2014.
Sergey Markov, another Russian military blogger said there “Extreme recklessness” on the part of the Russian command.
Boris Rozhin, who writes a war blog under the nickname Colonelcassad say “The incompetence and inability to understand the experience of war remains a serious problem.”
