The far-right Republicans in the House nominated Representative Byron Donald of Florida to be the speaker. Fighting on the ground rather than mallets continued on wednesday
Republican Representative Chip Roy of Texas, who nominated the Donalds, received two rounds of applause from both sides, including from GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, when he said: “For the first time in history, two black Americans have been nominated. for the President of the House”

So far, Donalds has gathered 20 votes each in the fourth, fifth and sixth speaker ballots, hampering McCarthy’s path to victory. The council adjourned until 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
Donald voted for McCarthy on the first two ballots. but deducted a majority of his peers to vote for Rep. Jim. Jordan of Ohio on Third Ballot with Radical Conservatives
“Right now, he’s never going to get there,” Donalds told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. After voting against McCarthy on Tuesday. “If that happens again, yes, I can be there, that’s fine, but what is needed now is the Republican Party come together and find alternative speakers.”
Donald is in office for a second term, first winning the 2020 election after GOP Rep. Francis Rooney left his seat in Florida’s 19th congressional district and his second in 2022 with a landslide victory. break up
